Our Preschool Program
Our Preschool operates Monday to Friday with 2 alternate programs. Your child will be offered the program more suited to their needs after enrolment details are collected and considered.
Our program follows the National Early Learning Framework which has a strong emphasis on play-based learning. The Framework recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development.
The staff encourages children to enjoy a combination of directed play as well as providing many opportunities for open-ended child directed play. Our classroom and outdoor environment are welcoming, well organised spaces. The learning centres are carefully arranged to promote active learning and are based on intentional learning outcomes. Our program allows for flexibility and caters for the children’s emerging interests in all curriculum areas.
Play is seen as a medium for learning and development. It acknowledges the child as capable and resourceful and allows the teaching professionals to follow the national guidelines and emergent curriculum.
Our Outcomes
The outcomes of the activities encouraging an interest in literacy and numeracy are:
- to provide a curriculum for children which is relevant and challenging, which promotes their intellectual, social, emotional and physical development;
- to foster a respect for the rights and needs of others;
- to offer a range of learning opportunities so children acquire skills and competencies necessary to participate successfully in a group;
- to foster within each child a high sense of self esteem which leads to confidence independence and a sense of belonging; and
- for each child to develop:
« a positive and realistic self-image
« emotional independence
« trust in others, and the ability to interact in a positive way
« an awareness and understanding of his/her environment, and
« a positive attitude towards learning.
A weekly program based on the emergent curriculum is displayed in the foyer of the preschool. Parents and Caregivers are encouraged to read this information. Any comments, ideas or suggestions on the program are always welcome.
