School Rooms and Playground

 Playgrounds

There are two playgrounds in the school. The upstairs playground is generally used by infants children for free play during recess and lunch breaks. This playground contains the sandpit, climbing equipment, fixed equipment and various educational activities painted on the cement.

The downstairs playground is used for the more organised games. The playground comprises of netball and basketball courts and a terraced area used for football and soccer. The children are also able to use a wide variety of sporting equipment during lunchtimes in this bottom playground. Both playgrounds are used for physical education and sport on a regular basis

Playground Rules

The school has a number of out of bound areas that are explained and described to children throughout the year.

• before 8.40 am the children will sit on the seats in the lower courtyard area.
• a bell sounds at 8.40 am and the children assemble to be taken to the lower playground.
• a warning bell sounds at 8.55 am for the children to line up in the COLA.
• all classes and teachers are ready to return to class after 9.00 am bell.
• lunch play time is from 1.05 pm after lunch is eaten.
• 3.00 pm bikes are to be wheeled out of the grounds via Mica Lane.
• 3.00 pm teachers to walk their class to the courtyard gate.

Computer Room

The computer room is networked to a printer and with the office to gain Internet access. Each class receives instruction as part of the release program. The room is also used by classroom teachers for consolidation of computer skills.

Staff Room

The staff room is where the teachers have their morning tea and lunch breaks. The staff room is sometimes used for small group meetings.

School Hall

The school hall is used for school assemblies, visiting performers, health hustles and drama. It is also used for functions including school socials. The hall houses the school’s honour boards. The Good Beginnings Playgroup meets in the hall each Wednesday morning.

In the main administration area, located in the downstairs section of the school, the following offices are located: Principal, Assistant Principal and the School Administration Office. The sick bay and photocopy room are also located in this office area.
